| 2 Militants Killed in Yala Raid |

Two suspected militants wanted in insurgency cases were shot dead in a gunfight with a police squad in the southern province of Yala.
A team of police, military and local administration officials surrounded a house in Yala's Bannang Sata district believed to be used as an insurgent hideout.
The security force spent more than five hours negotiating with the suspects to surrender, but failed.
The officials then decided to break into the house, prompting an unknown number of gunmen to open fire at them. An officer of Koke Kian police station, Police Corporal Maitree Riangruab, was injured and two insurgents were killed during the gunfight.
They were identified as 31-year-old Ahama Doryi and 28-year-old Sugree Dueramae.
A nine-millimeter pistol as well as .38-caliber revolver were seized. Eighteen-year-old suspect, identified as Amin Samae, was caught during the raid and brought for questioning at Bannang Sata police station.
Police said Ahama Doryi, is a suspected insurgent leader wanted for for cases of national security threats.
Meanwhile, Pattani Governor Theerathep Sriyapan today traveled to Maduathong Temple in Koke Po district to preside over a funeral bathing rite for 28-year-old officer at Koke Po police station, Police Lance Corporal Chinnapat Kanjanawong.
Chinnapat was shot dead in a drive-by shooting and later died at Koke Po Hospital on July 28. The governor also gave 500,000 to the victim's family.
