Another Bomb Goes Off Downtown Bangkok, 1 Severely Injured
UPDATE : 30 July 2010
Political violence continues in the capital, as an explosion near the King Power Complex went off in Soi Rang Nam. A garbage collector nearby was severely injured.

At around 1:20a.m. Friday morning, an explosion went off opposite to King Power Complex on Soi Rangnam in Rajthevi district of Bangkok.

Security officials discovered an unidentified man of approximately 30 to 40 years old, believed to be a scrap collector in the area, lying on the ground with severe head injuries. The man was rushed to Ratchavithi Hospital nearby.

A van parked nearby was also damaged by the explosion. The driver recounted that he was resting when he was shaken by a powerful blast, as his van was showered with fragments.

He also saw the injured man, but did not offer help as he feared another explosion.

Commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, Police Lieutenant General Santhan Chayanon, and Commander of the Region 1 Metropolitan Bureau, Police Major General Wichai Sangaprapai, have also inspected the scene.

Wichai believes a Chinese- or Russian-made hand grenade was used in the explosion.

The investigation team will review the videos recorded by the surrounding CCTV cameras in order to bring the perpetrator to justice.
