| UPDATE : 10 February 2010 |
Mobile phone giants AIS and DTAC are competing in the sales of BlackBerrys, with both projecting that they will dominate the market for the expected 400,000 to 500,000 mobile phone units that will be sold this year.
Advance Info Service, or AIS, executive Somchai Lertsutiwong said that the company is preparing to expand its BlackBerry smart phone, or BB, market by 100 percent, or by 200,000 units, and plans to dominate the general mobile phone market with 50 percent of total unit sales.
It plans to be the number one service provider for the expected 400,000 to 500,000 mobile phone units that will be sold this year. AIS currently has 28.5 million users.
Total Access Communication, or DTAC, spokesperson Thana Thienachariya said that DTAC is projecting to grab 40 percent of the BB market and is also confident that it will dominate the general market.
He also believes that BB smart phone's popularity will soar due to price reduction.
AIS is working in collaboration with Mediastudio Company to promote the new BlackBerry Bold 9700.
Mediastudio President Catherine Shaw is confident that the BlackBerry's capability to transfer data, pictures and videos rapidly will help users more conveniently broadcast news and other kinds of communication.
