Those in the Tourism Ministry in Thailand believe the total number of tourists visiting Thailand by the end of this year will be 14 million.
Tourism and Sports Minister Chumpol Silapa-archa said that this year, the tourism industry is the industry most affected by the economic and political crisis.
However, Chumpol claims that the annual goal of between 13.5 million and 14.1 million tourists can still be met.
The number of tourists entering Thailand between November and January is around 12.4 million, with 1.3 million tourists in November alone.
Also on a daily average, there are now more tourists travelling to Thailand than any other months.
Chumpol believes the number of tourists travelling to Thailand will increase by 3 to 4 per cent due to the recovering global economy and the government's economic stimulation measures.
The government is also planning to continue to promote tourism programs such as “Landing Free”, “Parking Free,” and 50 per cent tax concession for seminars organised in the country.
Meanwhile, the Tourism and Sports Ministry has appointed Wichai Srikwan and Suraphol Savetseranee as the president and governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
Both will begin their new positions on January 1st, 2010.
